Teen Lounge: Design Functionality Meets Fun

This project transformed a child's playroom into a stylish, functional teen lounge in Anchorage, Alaska. Here's a breakdown of the challenges, solutions, and design elements used:

Issues:

The playroom no longer suited the needs of the growing teenager who craved a space to hang out with friends and pursue individual hobbies.

Design Solutions:

• Space Planning: A new layout maximized the room's two entrances and created designated zones. One area catered to socializing and games, while the other offered a dedicated spot for studying, reading, and practicing instruments.

• Flooring: The existing carpet was removed to make way for colorful wall-to-wall carpet tiles, which added visual interest and functionality.

Interior Features:

• Mid-Century Modern Inspiration: The room divider/bookcase, which provides storage and separation, was inspired by mid-century modern design.

• Bold Accents: Metallic stripes painted directly on the walls added a touch of drama.

• Window Treatments: New window treatments likely enhanced privacy and light control.

• Furniture Selection: Carefully chosen furniture catered to the designated zones, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.

• Art and Decor: Artwork and small decorative items personalized the space and reflected the teenager's interests.
