Interior styling and decor for a teen lounge in Anchorage, AK

This project involved custom interior decoration, styling, interior product selection, furniture selections, colorful decor accents, and soft goods like drapery, pillows, and throws.

The Problem/Issue:

The homeowner wanted to redesign a child playroom into a teen lounge.

Our Solution:

After discussing what wasn’t working for this “tweenager” now that she was moving toward a new phase of life, I created a new space plan to create flow in this two-entrance room. I defined two different areas for this special gal to enjoy. The first area provided a place where she could hang out with friends, play games with the fam, etc., and the other side to practice her instrument, study, and read independently. To accomplish this, we took everything out of the room. Carpet and all! I added wall-to-wall carpet tiles in varying colors to create interest and function. I designed a Mid Century-inspired room divider/bookcase, painted metallic stripes on the walls, added new window treatments, and placed new furniture, art, and small decor items. Now it is fabulous, and she can enjoy it until she moves out!
